On Nov. 15, 2008, the Rockford Preservation Society dedicated and officially opened to the public Rockford Park on the site of the 1796 Grant-Burrus hotel.
The park is at the southern entrance to the Village of Rockford and is a perfect spot for outdoor performances.
Improvements include a platform on the footprint of the historical hotel, hand-wrought railing, tin covers for the historic chimneys, benches, picnic tables and landscaping.
Planned improvements include period lighting, additional landscaping, and an information kiosk.
If you can help finish this project, please send a donation to the Rockford Preservation Society, 4844 Rockford Road, Dobson, N.C. 27017.
